The Homeless
By Rachel Faha

When we think of the homeless, the first thing that comes to mind is a drunken, dirty, low-down bum.

Our minds paint pictures in order to protect us from the truth of the world around us.

When we hear the word homeless, we say to ourselves that it's only those that deserve it.

But, what we fail to realize in our daily lives is that no one deserves to be brought that low.

What we fail to see with our minds so closed to our world is that all too often it's not just the drunken bums who are homeless but, entire families.

The ones that suffer the most are the children.  You can see it in their eyes.  It is as though their childhood is being ripped away. For they must worry over concerns that most kids take for granted such as where is my next meal coming from or is there even going to be a next meal or as simple and basic as where am I going to sleep tonight.

So, the next time you see a saddened child standing in the doorway, take a moment to stop and open your mind.

Be warned, you may truly suprise yourself! For then you will truly being seeing the Homeless through the eyes of a child.
